A MomDoc telehealth appointment gives you face-to-face time with your provider from the comfort of home. A few minutes of preparation will make your visit as productive as an in-office appointment.
Choose a well-lit room where you can speak freely about your health. Background noise and interruptions make it harder for your provider to focus on you.
Include prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and vitamins. Your provider may need to adjust dosages or discuss interactions.
Virtual visits move quickly. Having a written list ensures you cover everything you want to discuss without forgetting something after you disconnect.
If you have a home blood pressure cuff or thermometer, take a reading before your visit. Your provider may ask for these numbers. If you do not have equipment, that is fine.
If you have been seen by another doctor, had lab work, or received imaging since your last MomDoc visit, have those results available to share on screen.
Ensure your phone, tablet, or laptop has a full charge. A video visit typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes, and a dead battery mid-appointment is avoidable.
MomDoc uses a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. No app download is required.
Virtual visits work on any device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. Here is what you need:
| Requirement | Details |
| Device | Smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop with a webcam |
| Browser | Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge (latest version recommended) |
| Internet | Stable Wi-Fi or cellular data (4G LTE or faster) |
| Camera | Front-facing camera, positioned at eye level for best results |
| Audio | Built-in microphone and speaker, or headphones for privacy |
Troubleshooting tip: If your video or audio is choppy, try moving closer to your Wi-Fi router, closing other browser tabs, or switching from Wi-Fi to cellular data (or vice versa).
Virtual visits work well for many types of appointments, including:
Some things need hands-on evaluation. Your provider will let you know if your concern requires an office visit instead:
If you are unsure whether your concern can be handled virtually, call us at 480-821-3601 and our scheduling team will help you decide.
To be eligible for a MomDoc virtual visit, you need to have had at least one in-person visit with a MomDoc provider within the last three years. Accepted visit types include:
If you are a brand-new patient, your first appointment will be in person so your provider can establish a complete baseline. After that, many follow-up visits can move to telehealth.
Most insurance plans cover telehealth visits at the same rate as in-person visits. Your copay, deductible, and coinsurance apply the same way. If you have questions about your specific coverage, call us at 480-821-3601 before scheduling.
